Webster's Advanced Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis is designed for those who already hold a master's degree. The Applied Behavior Analysis certificate will advance your knowledge in radical behaviorism, and prepare you to be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to work with people with behavioral needs, and help improve their quality of life.  

The program provides training in functional behavior assessment, analysis and intervention within the context of ethically guided and evidence-based practices. Candidates are introduced to the conceptual foundations of applied behavior analysis, research methodology, principles and practices of behavioral instruction, support and intervention and the ethical and professional guidelines needed for effective services. It has been approved by The Association for Behavior Analysis International.

What does a properly trained, ABA analyst do?

  1. Motivate and encourage people with autism and other developmental disorders to build new skills based on their strengths, and help provide opportunities.
  2. Help decrease self-injurious behaviors and other behaviors that bring harm to the direct caregivers, family members and people with autism and other developmental disorders themselves.
  3. Teach skills that benefit people with autism and other developmental disorders first, such as building relationships with peers and community members.

  1. ABA therapy teaches socially significant skills, such as feeding and communicating to build independence and increase the quality of life of people with autism and other developmental disorders.
  2. ABA therapy uses evidence-based techniques to teach the importance of choices and to provide a natural environment that nurture creativity and uniqueness of people with autism and other developmental disorders.
  3. ABA therapy is a practice that is very child-focused, centers around family values and needs and often takes place in natural contexts, such as the family home. Based on the family values and needs, ABA also teaches parents how to help their children with autism and other developmental disorders. Any physically painful punishments, such as yelling, screaming or even electronic shocks are banned in ABA.

  1. Complete a master’s program that offers a Verified Course Sequence (VCS).
  1. Complete an Advanced Graduate Certificate program that offers the Verified Course Sequence (VCS).
  2. Complete the required fieldwork experience.
  3. Once you successfully complete the VCS and the fieldwork experience, send your application to the Behavior Analysts Certification Board (BACB).
  4. After the BACB reviews and approves your application, sit for the BCBA exam.
